I'll finally update everyone.

1-21: Cody, Daniel, and I were in a car accident. We didn't hit anyone or anything, and we didn't roll. For the most part, we were very lucky! Our car hydroplaned on slush and we spun off the I-80 freeway. The spot where we went off was luckily muddy and so our car slid instead of rolled. Daniel was great! He didn't even cry! It was cold, so we were also lucky that a nice man pulled over and let us sit in his truck until highway patrol and my stepdad, Gary, arrived.

I know with all my heart that one of us has a guardian angel. How else could we have made it without a scratch? I know Heavenly Father had an eye on my little family and protected us. What a testimony builder that few seconds was for me.

Now, we are waiting for the damage on the car to be looked at... It is hard being without a car, but we have great family that helps us as much as they can.

I love all my friends and family, and want to let you know that life is fragile. Thank Heavenly Father everyday for what you have, because you don't know how long you will have it for. Don't live with regrets. Don't say things that hurt others and that you can't take back.

Daniel the Helper

Daniel is a great helper in the kitchen! He loves mixing things, and he loves helping scrub dishes! Although it makes things take longer, I have decided to cultivate this want of his to help. I figure if he helps now, then he will continue helping as he gets older!

My baby is three years old! I can't believe how fast time has gone! He is such a blessing in my life. I thank Heavenly Father every day for my sweet little boy!

Daniel's birthday started with an awesome present from Uncle Robert: a Lightning McQueen table and chair. It is so cool! It has a shelf for coloring books.

Daniel got started right away coloring! I love that his tongue hangs out when he is concentrating!!

Cody and I decided we want to start a birthday breakfast tradition. Sooo... I made green eggs and Cody made sausage! Then we put a candle in the eggs. It was really fun and funny!

That night we let Daniel open a few presents.

Daddy and Daniel read every night before bed out of Daniel's new car book!

This was by far the best cake I have ever made!!! It is a Butter Yellow Cake mix with Raspberry filling. The frosting is cream cheese (and the road is chocolate cream cheese frosting).

Daniel helped my mom with party decorations the night before his party. My mom loves parties!

Grandma Iva, Grandpa Neil and Aunt Merle couldn't make it to the party, so they were so nice and made a visit in the morning! Thank you so much for going out of your way to see Daniel!

Cody did the Statue of Liberty. Mine is Tiana kissing the frog from "The Princess and the Frog". And Daniel's is Lightning McQueen!

I didn't get very many pictures of Daniel in his costume as it was very awkward for him to wear. He would wear it to the door, then as soon as he got his candy, it would come off and he would ride in the stroller! He still likes it and calls it "ma ca" (my car).

Cody and I were Daniel's pit crew. We had matching hats, tags on the front of our jackets that said "Pit Crew", and signs on our backs that had a picture of Lightning McQueen.

Every morning when Daniel comes and wakes me up, he points at the tv and says "Ca". I then turn on "Cars Toons: Mater's Tall Tales" which is programmed to just keep playing.... He could watch that ALL day... That is why he had the most perfect costume this year!!

Daniel's 2nd Birthday!!!

I can't believe my little baby is 2 years old!!!! Where did the time go? It makes me so sad and happy to see how fast he grows and learns. The last two years have been the best of my life. I am so grateful for the blessings Heavenly Father has given me, the number one being my sweet Daniel.

I won't add too many long commentaries, so here are the pictures from his birthday.

This is the cake. Thank you, Mum, for making it! Thank you, Robert, for (just like last year) decorating it!!

As you can see, it was a Toy Story 3 themed party (since that is the only movie Daniel watches EVERY day)!

Daniel and Andy got presents from Grandma Iva! It was so fun to watch them both open them!

By the way, Grandma Iva gave the boys a two-sided cape that she made. One side has Superman and one side has Batman. It worked perfectly because she also got them both Batman PJs, and Cody and I got Daniel Superman PJs!! So we had a Superman and a Batman at the party!

They are Toy Story Christmas pajamas... Anyways, so we decided that on December 1st, since we don't have any other things ready for our countdown, that we would let him open the pajamas....
November 30 - watched Toy Story
December 1 - opened pajamas and watched Toy Story 2
December 2 - will open Toy Story 3 and watch it.

Halloween

Daniel had lots of fun carving the pumpkins. I didn't get pictures of the finished carvings. Cody did Puss in Boots. I did Jack Sparrow. And Daniel's was Mickey Mouse! They turned out cute!

Daniel was a cute monkey, and Cody and I were pirates. He was so funny. At first he didn't really know what was going on, but after a few doors he was getting the hang of it. We would put him on the doorstep and he would start gabbering at the door! When the people answered, then he went quiet. We need to work on manners before next year. He was very demanding and would grab lots of candy, or take FOREVER choosing a piece!! Luckily, people thought he was too adorable to be mad!

Fantastic Week

I am so sorry that I am such a slacker! I promise to catch up with lots of pictures as soon as I get Halloween pictures from my mom.

First, I want to write about my fantastic week. (Please add sarcasm when you read "fantastic"). So it all started Sunday the 7th... We were at church and the nursery people brought Daniel to me because he was stinky. As I was changing his diaper, my stomach began to hurt. I took him back to nursery and decided to wait out the ache through Sunday School. When it ended, I told Cody that I had to go home. So we went and got Daniel and headed home. At home, I ran to the bathroom and threw up and other not so fun stuff. Now, it was Fast Sunday, so I was amazed at the amount I could throw up for not eating anything. Anyways, Cody made me soup and brought me water, but the second I would drink some or eat some, I would need to throw up. Well, after a few hours my stomach ache became a horrible pain, it felt like someone was sitting on my chest. Cody gave me a blessing and I hoped that it would go away... It didn't. Soon I was gasping for air. Cody was panicked and decided to take me to the ER. He helped me get dressed and then got Daniel ready as I laid there thinking I was going to die that day. Then Cody came and helped me get dressed. Cody carried Daniel to the car, then looked to see where I was. It was so painful that I had to scoot down our stairs! When we got to the ER, there was a line! So I sat down and gasped as people stared at me, and Cody stood in line. A poor little boy, probably Daniel's age or a little older, was brought in and taken to the front of the line because his head was split open... Even though there was a line, it didn't take too long to get into a room. They immediately started me on fluids through an IV. After all the questions, they took my to get an ultrasound. I'm pretty sure I am bruised from it. As soon as we got back from the ultrasound, a doctor came in and proceeded to tell me something about a hole in the placenta....?? The ultrasound technician was like, "Wrong patient! She's not pregnant!" Oops, and darn it... Anyways, it all came down to gall stones. One doctor came in and told me I needed it out that night! The next doctor came and gave me names of surgeons to go see. They need to work on communication there. Well, they gave me anti-nausea drugs through my IV along with some pain medication that made the room spin. After the fluids were almost empty, they let me go home with some Lorotab. Yesterday (Sunday the 14th) was the first time since then that I was able to eat anything. It hurts when I eat too much (which now is how much I used to eat!). I'm pretty sure I have lost 5lbs....

Anyways, I am doing better now. I'm scared to eat fatty foods and soda doesn't even sound good anymore!!! Hooray!! What a way to diet!

Spiritual story:
This is very special to me. While Cody was giving me a blessing and while he was dressing me Daniel kept smiling and waving at the corner of my room. At the time I was freaked out and totally sure that someone was there to take me away (I thought I was dying). Now that I think about it, I am so sure that they were there to comfort me and my family. I was so grateful that Danny was distracted and not getting worried by my cries. I know I had a guardian angel with me that night!!

Disneyland!!!

Cody and I were able to participate in the Disney Give A Day Get A Day. We volunteered and received free tickets to Disneyland! When we got there, we upgraded to the Two Day Park Hopper Pass. Here are some of the pictures.

California Trip - What a blast!!

So we were able to go to California to be with my family. It was a jam packed vacation, but so worth it. We decided to drive all the way through.... Daniel was great!
Daniel LOVED the water!! If we hadn't watched him, then I'm sure he would have just kept on running to it!Another part Daniel loved (that I didn't) was the sand. Ew.... He got covered in it!
One great thing about the beach - Daniel slept very well!

We also got to get family pictures taken.My mom got married to the nicest guy on June 26th. I don't have the pictures on my camera, but as soon as I get them, I will post them! We are so happy for her.

Picnic in the Park

Cody, Daniel, and I found a great park that was pretty much empty! It was so nice to let Danny play and run around.

Cute story: We were walking around and this other family was walking towards us. They had a little girl a month older than Danny. Well, the babies saw each other and slowly walked towards each other. Daniel walked all the way to the little girl and gave her the rock he was carrying. It was so cute!

We were so lucky this weekend. We were able to accompany Cody's aunt, Aunt Merle, to go see where his family is buried. I was especially excited because the first grave site we visited is the man whom Daniel is named for.

Better Late Than Never - Easter!!

The Wednesday before Easter we got to have an egg hunt at Cody's sister's house. It was so fun! Andy and Danny got into. Daniel tried to steal eggs out of Caleb's basket!!

Then Daniel stole Grandma Iva's apple!

Easter weekend we were able to go to Las Vegas. It was so fun. We went to my aunt's ward's Easter breakfast. Daniel loved getting the eggs.

We had fun at the park!

Mum and Corinne put together our own egg hunt Easter morning. They filled 48 eggs for Haylee and Daniel!!!! Daniel wasn't as into it as the day before.

Good news during the weekend: Gary proposed to Mum!

Amazing Baby Boy

I just had to tell a quick story. We went to the WIC clinic yesterday to get Daniel re-certified. They had to draw blood, and that is what this story is about. The lady sanitized his toe while he just sat and studied everything she was doing. When she pricked him, he didn't even flinch!! He just watched intently! After she got the band-aid on his toe, he lifted his foot up and examined the band aid!!! I am still in shock that he was so calm. I HATE shots or any kind of needle pricking me. He screams when he gets shots. I don't know why he didn't cry, but maybe this is a sign that he will be a doctor?

Anyways, he also went to the doctor yesterday. He has Bronchitis again. He's back on the nebulizer and throws up at least once a day. (He didn't throw up today and is more himself, so hopefully he will be all the way better by Friday.)

He took his first steps! Just three or four in a row, but he is getting braver and braver! We practice everyday!

I can't believe it! The year has gone so fast! We had a Mickey Mouse themed party with family. It was so great! Thank you so much to my mom, brother, and Cody for all their help! (The cae would have been a disaster without Robert's art skills!!)

Christmas was awesome!!! We spent Christmas Eve morning and afternoon in Preston with Cody's family. Then went to my grandparents for dinner. Then stayed a couple nights at my mom's. We had a blast!!! Daniel loved the wrapping paper! He got more presents than the rest of us combined!! Here are some pictures:

Random Acts of Kindness

With the Christmas season here, I love to watch people be nice to one another. I love to help out other people, and wish we were more financially stable so that we could do more. Carrie, thank you for bringing over that bag of clothes! I went through and picked out stuff for Daniel, then was going to take the rest to the DI, but I kept putting it off. (In fact, it's still not at the DI...) Anyways, a friend came over to use some of my scrap fabric to fix a toy. She was fixing it for a needy family that she knows of. They have a 9 month old boy and a 3 year old boy and no way to provide Christmas. I asked her if she needed any more clothes for the baby, but she said that everyone had stuff for the baby. Luckily, I remembered the bag for the DI. We went through and picked some clothes out for the little boy. I know that it was not much, but I wish I could witness the joy on his face when he gets some toys and clothes on Christmas!

The other night, Cody and I went out to dinner. We were getting ready to leave and our waitress came up. She said we had two checks. I thought that maybe there was a mistake on the first one, so we would have to pay separately. She then explained: before we had ordered dessert (I have been craving ice cream...) someone pointed us out and paid for our meal!!! On the receipt it says "Merry Christmas from a random stranger!" I couldn't believe it. I started tearing up! How sweet and amazing that someone would do that!

Anyways, I just wanted to blog about it. I wish that everyone would do more things like that all the time, not just Christmas. That stranger made my whole week better!! I have the receipt in my bag still. Even though I don't know who did it for us, they will now hold a special place in my heart. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and remember the real reason for this special season. Jesus Christ our Savior was born so that He could be our example. Then He lovingly laid down His life for us so that we could return to Him again.

So, as most of you know, Cody is a HUGE Star Trek fan. Well, has has gotten me into it, too. After this new movie came out, I was hooked. I agreed that we had found the perfect Halloween costumes...

Cody was Captain Kirk, I was Uhura, and Daniel was Spock! (I made the costumes!)

Daniel had a Spock wig, too! (It was an adult size, but it worked.) He didn't care for it!

Here are some of our pumpkins. Cody and I did two each. Cody did: the Lincoln Memorial and the "Boo" face. I did: Ariel the Little Mermaid and Tigger. It was fun.

So Cody, Daniel, and I were able to go to Cabo with Cody's family! It was sooo much fun!
Danny was great on the plane rides! He only cried a few times. (That's the wonderful thing about taking Tylenol PM the night before!)
He loved the water and was the talk of the resort!! It was so much fun to swim together!

Taking Advantage of the Warm Weather When It's Here...

So, the weather has been kind of crazy! We have been trying to make a tradition of having a picnic on Sundays, but it all depends on Utah's messed up weather! Here are some pictures of our picnics and some Easter family pictures!Here are some picnic pictures!

Daniel's Blessing

Daniel was blessed on March 1st, 2009! We are so happy and excited that we were able to share the day with family and friends. My grandparents from California flew up to be with their first great grandchild. My grandparents from Bountiful drove up, too. We had a wonderful day.

I can't believe is has been five weeks already. Little Daniel is growing so much, as much as I try to stop it! He holds his head up for long periods of time. I think he smiles... It could just be gas still, but maybe not. He is growing into his newborn clothes! Haha!
So, we took him to church two weeks ago. This is his little suit! People were giving me weird looks as I carried him around. A couple of people asked me if he was a week old! I laughed and told them that he was a whole month old already. I think that some of the people that saw me thought I was a horrible mother for bringing him to church so young. They didn't realize that he is just a tiny month old!

He seems to be getting so big, but I guess compared to other things he is still little. Here is a dog that my mum, his nana, made for him at Build A Bear! Daniel and Buster Brown.

We love our little boy so very much! He is so cute and loving. He loves to be held! (Even at night...which is hard because he cries when I put him in his bassinet... but we're working on it.) Some nights he even sleeps five hours in a row, but most of the time it's three hours.

We got portraits done when he was three weeks old.

I love being a mommy!

Daniel loves his daddy!

So, even though I get almost no sleep, I love being a mommy! Daniel is so sweet! He will be three weeks old tomorrow! I can't believe it has been three weeks already.

On Monday, we had our two week well check. He was weighed and measured and had to be poked for his PKU test. He is growing. Daniel is now 6lbs 4.5oz and 20inches long! Unfortunately, he is in an awkward phase: preemie clothes have too short of legs for him, but newborn clothes are still too big! Poor baby has to choose between not being able to stretch out his legs or have baggy clothes!

I am now adjusting to not being pregnant... I forgot how cold Logan is!
I LOVE my baby! He is such a sweet blessing!

The First Week

Well, we survived the first week!!! My mom came and stayed with us, which was a huge help. Then Thursday my nana came and helped out. It was awesome to have the family support this first week. I can already tell that my cute little baby is growing! He is such a sweetheart. Here are some picture highlights from the week.

Well, we now have a new addition to our family! Daniel Mark Owen was born January 10, 2009 at 7:35pm. He was 5lbs and 8oz and 18.5in long. He is perfect in every way, and he definitely was the cutest baby in the nursery! (I'm not biased...)

He spent a while in the NICU, which was really hard and scary for us. He had low blood sugar they think from a stressful delivery. He didn't want to eat on his own, and he couldn't stay warm. Then they told us he might have an infection, so they started antibiotics and did some labs. Monday afternoon, they gave the okay and brought him back to us! Tuesday afternoon we took him home. Unfortunately, he is an alien baby... He has the billi-lights for jaundice. We have to keep him on the lights all the time except when I feed him and change his diaper.

The delivery is a great story. We chaecked into the hospital for high blood pressure and a two week headache at 10:40am. At 11:30am Dr Noorda broke my water and said I was dilated to a 1 1/2. They checked me every hour and prepared me for a long delivery. My mom and brother came up and helped Cody entertain me. They checked one hour and I was a 2+. The next hour I was a 3. At about 5:30pm I was a 4+. I was excited to almost be at the plataeu! We were playing a round of Uno, when I started feeling some pressure through the epidural. Then the nurse came in to check me because Daniel's heart rate was dropping at every contraction. It was 6:40ish. She was in shock. I was at a 10!! In less than an hour I went from a 4 to a 10!! Well, they told us we were going to do an hour of rest and then deliver... Daniel had other plans. His heart rate began to drop, so they decided it was time. The nurses and Cody lifted my legs into the stirrups and gasped. I will never forget the image of three nurses and Cody standing wide-eyed at the end of my bed. He was coming out with or without the doctor. Quickly, they rolled me onto my side and called Dr Noorda to find out where he was. He was running through the parking lot! The nurses put me back up and said to glove him as he ran in. Dr Noorda came in as they told me to do my first push. I couldn't feel anything, so I didn't know if I was pushing or just making a face. I pushed three times, and then the contraction ended. The next contraction they told me to push again... Dr Noorda was trying to get his robe on. I pushed... and Daniel flew out. Dr Noorda had to jump and catch him in his robe!! The nurse clamped his umblical cord and Cody leaned over to watch.... It squirted blood all over his face and shirt! Cody was dripped with blood! It was really funny. Anyways, Daniel had his cord wrapped around his neck and shoulder, but was doing good. It was something we will never forget.

I am so grateful to have my baby home. He is just so sweet and perfect. He has sooo much hair! I can't get over it! I am grateful that my mom came and is staying with me for awhile. Our first night home was a long night. I'm glad I can nap during the day while Daniel is napping. I can't wait to update this blog and keep everyone up on Daniel's progress. Hopefully, he will be off the lights soon. We have a doctor's appointment tomorrow where they will check his billirubin levels again. Also, he gets circumcised tomorrow... Poor little guy!

Anyways, we love all and are so excited to start this journey as new parents.
